Snowy Mountains Skiing

Lets go skiing in the Snowy Mountains

The Snowy Mountains are located in southern New South Wales and consists of the highest mountain range on the continent of mainland Australia. The range also contains the five highest peaks (including Mount Kosciuszko), all of which are above 2,100 m (6,890 ft). They are part of the larger Australian Alps and Great Dividing Range. During the winter months this region gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘winter wonderland’. Popular among skiers and snowboarders, the Snowy Mountains offer breathtaking views and bountiful slopes.

Multiple ski resorts are scattered throughout the range including ‘Perisher’. Altitude 1260 is ideally located 7 minutes from the Skitube at Bullocks Flat. Trains run directly to Perisher every 20 minutes during the peak ski season. Perisher stands out from other ski resorts as it is a great place for beginners to learn new skills and provide a challenge to the more advanced skier.

Perisher offers regular ski lessons from qualified ski instructors during the Winter season. Once you start getting the nack for the popular snow sport, you can head up the hill on one of the plentiful chair lifts. Don’t forget that all equipment can be hired, including snow gear, boots and of course skis. This is a great way to save time and money on your next holiday.

In addition to skiing, there are numerous other activities available in the area. This usually depends on the specific region you visit. Some of what you have to look forward to in the Snowy Mountains includes horse riding, rock climbing, cycling and water sports. There are also many awesome restaurants, cafes and shops to check out.

If you are planning a ski trip Altitude 1260 can offer the perfect location and views to boot! It goes without saying that winter is the best time to visit but you can still enjoy the same fun during the warmer months!
